Mount Carmel College is a vibrant Catholic learning community for girls from ELC to Year 10.

Since 1942 when the Sisters of Charity established ‘Little Mount Carmel’ Primary School, we continue to draw on the mission of our founders and empower young women through education, community and faith.

Our single-campus school, comprising of an Early Learning Centre (ELC), Primary school and Secondary school, allows our students to experience a seamless education journey.

We are committed to creating a nurturing environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential, live their faith and contribute to shaping a socially just society with courage, confidence and integrity.

Our History

Mount Carmel College was founded by the Sisters of Charity, who, in 1838, were the first group of Women Religious to come to Australia and provided religious education in Hobart from 1847 onwards.

Spiritual Growth

Mount Carmel College is steeped in the charism of the Sisters of Charity and our students are encouraged to be of service, adopting the motto of the Sisters; The love of Christ impels us.
