There are many opportunities for parents, carers and family members to be involved in the College as a volunteer.
Volunteers are an important part of our College community.
The College is appreciative of parent and carer volunteers assisting with sport carnivals, taking on a coach, manager and umpire roles for team sports, volunteering time in the College Canteen, assisting at our annual Arts Festival and College Production or being a welcoming face at our Open Day and Welcome BBQ. Without the generosity of our parent community, it would not be possible for all these events to occur, which our students thoroughly enjoy.
Process for Volunteering at Mount Carmel College
In accordance with Tasmanian State Government legislation everyone who volunteers their time at Mount Carmel College must have a Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
Whether you are involved in coaching or supervising sporting teams, undertaking parent help in the classroom or on excursions, assisting in the canteen or helping at a College event, you must first complete a Working with Vulnerable People registration. Please ensure that you select Mount Carmel College as the school where you will be volunteering. It may take a number of weeks for your Registration Card to arrive, but you will be issued with a reference number upon completion of the process.
When you receive your Working with Vulnerable People card, you will need to be present it to the College Office prior to volunteering for the first time. Alternatively, you can also lodge your card via the CET Child Safety Briefing Form.
In addition to obtaining a Working with Vulnerable People registration, all volunteers are also required to read, acknowledge and sign the Catholic Education Tasmania Child Safety Briefing form and complete the College Induction Form. This ensures the safety and wellbeing of not only our students but also our volunteers and enables everyone to participate in school-based activities in a safe environment.
