Our Early Learning program is available for girls and boys from 3 years of age running 5 days a week, Mondays through to Fridays, from 7.30am until 6.00pm.

Our Early Learning Centre provides a warm and welcoming start to your child’s educational journey. Throughout their time in the Early Learning Centre, they are supported and guided to grow and celebrate their individual success. Each child is encouraged to learn through adventure and discovery.

Early Childhood Professionals

Our ELC staff are qualified professionals who are passionate and experienced Early Childhood Educators. Each educator strives to build partnerships with families and positive relationships between each other and the children. They plan and implement programs that cater for individual needs, interests and abilities for children.

Learning Environment

Our Early Learning Centre is accessible from Nelson Road and provides Early Learning for children aged from 3 years old plus we also offer Education and Care for school-aged children including Before School Care, After School Care and School Holiday Care programs for our students.

The service is in a separate building within the College grounds and has spacious open areas, quiet rooms, excellent educational and play resources and a playground designed to meet the needs of young children.

Early Learning 

Our tailored preschool aged program is designed for children and their individual interests, needs and abilities. Our rich and meaningful learning experiences promote development and growth in exploration, creativity and curiosity among all children. Our educators are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and uphold the National Quality Standards in their daily routines. We strongly encourage parent input into the plan and welcome feedback from the children themselves about their learning.

Educational Program and School Life

Your child’s learning experience is enriched with a diverse range of specialist classes each week, including Physical Education, Japanese, Music, Dance and Library. Our location gives our students the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the local environment through our Nature Play program. The opportunities to engage in nature and sensory play at Lambert Park provides our youngest learners a myriad of physical, social and wellbeing benefits and fosters their independence, healthy risk-taking and problem solving skills.

Throughout the year, our Early Learning students are invited to attend whole school and Primary events which may include:

  • Primary Prayer
  • Assemblies and Masses
  • Book Week Celebrations
  • Athletics Carnival
  • Mount Carmel Day events
  • College Arts Festival

Flexible Hours and Availability

  • 5 days a week, Mondays through to Fridays, from 7.30am until 6.00pm
  • School Holiday Care program, 5 days a week, Mondays through to Fridays, from 7.30am until 6.00pm during school holiday time
  • Casual days can be accommodated with advanced notice and provided the required staff-to-student ratio is available

2025 Early Learning Centre Fees & Bookings

  • Full Day (7.30am – 6.00pm): $109.60
  • Extended Holiday Hold Fee (50% of full fee to hold existing bookings): $54.80
  • Late Pick Up Fee: $31.30 for every 5 minutes past 6.00pm
  • Absent Sessions: 100% of session fee

Mount Carmel College OSHC is an approved child care provider and therefore the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) applies to all Outside School Hours Care fees, including the Early Learning Centre. For further information visit the Child Care Subsidy page on the Services Australia website.

Policies and procedures are also available at the Early Learning Centre (ELC). Please inform staff if your child has any infectious disease or illness so that we can notify the Public Health Unit and other families. Confidentiality is always maintained.
