School Hours
- The school day for Kindergarten commences at 8.45am and concludes at 3.05pm
- The school day for our Primary classes (Prep – Year 6) commences at 8.45am and concludes at 3.05pm.
- The school day for the Secondary students (Years 7 – 10) commences at 8.40am and concludes at 3.20pm.
Bell Times
The College Office is open Monday – Friday from 8.00am to 4.00pm daily during term time.
During school holidays, the Office is open from 9.00am until 3.00pm.

At Mount Carmel, the College uniform is compulsory for all students, from our Early Learning Centre (ELC) to Year 10. The uniform is a symbol of our identity and our girls are encouraged to wear the uniform with pride.

Appointment Bookings: click here to make an appointment for a fitting. Appointments will be scheduled over the coming weeks, running from September through to November. Standard appointment duration is approximately 30 minutes. Lay-bys and EFTPOS facilities are available.
We encourage you to book your appointment as far in advance as possible. At the fitting appointment, we always allow for a reasonable amount of growth when allocating sizing. Booking an appointment assists us in ensuring there is adequate stock to cover everybody’s needs, and makes sure all students are adequately prepared. The College cannot guarantee sufficient stock will be available if uniform orders are not placed through a fitting appointment.

Summer School Holiday Opening Hours
The last day of trading for 2025 will be Wednesday 17 December, closing for the year at 5.00pm. The shop will re-open for 2026 on Monday 19 January and operate 12.00pm – 5.00pm daily until Thursday 5 February. This period is primarily for the collection of layby orders and any ‘last minute’ small purchases. It should not be relied upon for fitting appointments. The Uniform Shop will resume regular trading hours on Tuesday 10 February 2026.

Being located on Sandy Bay Road gives Mount Carmel students multiple transport options. Our dedicated bus services operate multiple daily bus services for students from Kinder through to Year 10 in and around the greater Hobart area to ensure students are able to to get to and from school easily and safely.
The bus service is available to all Mount Carmel students from Kindergarten to Year 10.

Located in our Early Learning Centre which is adjacent to the rest of the school, our aim is to provide a nurturing environment that is home away from home.
Both the morning (7.30am – 8.30am) and afternoon (3.05pm – 6.00pm) sessions provide students from Kindergarten to Year 6 with a supportive environment for free play, planned experiences, school activities and homework as well as some quiet time. A nutritious breakfast and afternoon tea is also provided.

Mount Carmel College is a technology-rich teaching and learning environment providing innovative opportunities for our students.
We believe in equipping our students with the skills to become effective digital learners from a young age. Our aim is to empower them with a deep understanding of how digital systems are changing the way we learn, communicate, and live, and how to behave safely online.
Technology used at Mount Carmel supports the development creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills.
In brief, our ICT program for students from Prep to Year 10 in 2026 is:
- Prep & Year 1: class sets of iPads for each class, stored in the classroom
- Years 2-3: class sets of iPads for each class, issued to individuals and stored in the classroom
- Years 4-6: class sets of laptops for each class, issued to individuals and stored in the classroom
- Years 7-10: individual laptops

The College uses an online tool to send newsletters and to communicate excursion and College information to parents/carers.
Correspondence will be sent to the email you have provided to the College. This is a key way for the College to transmit information effectively and efficiently.

Please note that students in Kindergarten, Prep and Year 1 will be provided with a pack of books and stationery from their class teacher. The costs associated with these items will be invoiced to individual accounts.
Students from Year 2 – Year 10 are required to purchase the relevant books and stationery for each year. Text books and stationery can be purchased from any supplier you choose, however Mount Carmel and Office National have partnered together for all school supplies and required text books. Purchases can be made online or in person at Office National, which is located at 3 Howard Road, Glenorchy. Mount Carmel College uses a smartphone payment app called Qkr! by Mastercard. for lunch orders, uniform shop purchases and other incidental purchases throughout the year.
