2024 Term Dates
Term 4: Tuesday 15 October – Wednesday 18 December : All students and staff
Over the 2024-2025 school holiday break, the Office will be closed on 19 December 2024 but open on Friday 20 December 2024. The Office will then be closed and reopen on Monday 13 January 2025, from 9.00am until 3.00pm daily.
The College Office is open Monday – Friday from 8.00am to 4.00pm during term time.

- The school day for Kindergarten commences at 8.45am and concludes at 3.05pm
- The school day for our Primary classes (Prep – Year 6) commences at 8.45am and concludes at 3.05pm.
- The school day for the Secondary students (Years 7 – 10) commences at 8.40am and concludes at 3.20pm.
Bell Times
The College Office is open Monday – Friday from 8.00am to 4.00pm daily during term time.
During school holidays, the Office is open from 9.00am until 3.00pm. Over the 2024-2025 school holiday break, the Office will be closed on Thursday 19 December but open on Friday 20 December 2024. The Office will then be closed and re-open on Monday 13 January 2025.

At Mount Carmel, the College uniform is compulsory for all students, from our Early Learning Centre (ELC) to Year 10. The uniform is a symbol of our identity and our girls are encouraged to wear the uniform with pride.

Appointment Bookings: click here to make an appointment for a fitting. Appointments will be scheduled over the coming weeks, running from September through to November. Standard appointment duration is approximately 30 minutes. Lay-bys and EFTPOS facilities are available.
We encourage you to book your appointment as far in advance as possible. At the fitting appointment, we always allow for a reasonable amount of growth when allocating sizing. Booking an appointment assists us in ensuring there is adequate stock to cover everybody’s needs, and makes sure all students are adequately prepared. The College cannot guarantee sufficient stock will be available if uniform orders are not placed through a fitting appointment.

Thursday: 1.00pm – 5.00pm
The last day of trading for 2024 will be Wednesday 18 December. The Uniform Shop will reopen for 2025 on Monday 20 January and operate 12.00pm – 5.00pm daily until Thursday 6 February. This period is primarily for the collection of layby orders and any ‘last minute’ small purchases. It should not be relied upon for fitting appointments.
The Uniform Shop will then resume regular trading hours on Tuesday 11 February.

Being located on Sandy Bay Road gives Mount Carmel students multiple transport options. We operate multiple bus services for students from Kinder through to Year 10 and service so many suburbs in the Greater Hobart area.

Bus Bookings for 2025
Bookings for our bus service for 2025 are not yet open.
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we would like to ask for your assistance in reviewing the current bus stops listed on our website. This will ensure that we have the most accurate and up-to-date information as we finalise the bus routes for next year.
Prior to Friday 13 December, please take a moment to review the bus stops available on the Mount Carmel College website by clicking here. If you believe that your child requires a new bus stop that we do not currently have available kindly submit your request via email to Student Services: info@mountcarmel.tas.edu.au or call the College Office on 6216 7900. We will make every effort to accommodate requests where possible, ensuring that the bus routes meet the needs of all students while keeping to the efficient and safe operation of the service. Please note that the bus service is intended to be for to and from school travel only, and we ask that any requested stops reflect this.
In January 2025, all families – both new and returning – will be provided with access to the RollCall Parent App to manage bus service bookings for Semester 1. Families will be notified via email of how to make their bookings.

- Prep & Year 1: class sets of iPads for each class, stored in the classroom
- Years 2-4: class sets of iPads for each class, issued to individuals and stored in the classroom
- Years 5-6: class sets of laptops for each class, issued to individuals and stored in the classroom
- Years 7-10: individual laptops

Please note that Kindergarten students do not require any stationery or work books and Prep and Year 1 students will be provided with a pack of books and stationery from their class teacher.
Students from Year 2 – Year 10 are required to purchase the relevant books and stationery for each year. Text books and stationery can be purchased from any supplier you choose, however Mount Carmel and Office National have partnered together for all school supplies and required text books. Purchases can be made online or in person at Office National, which is located at 3 Howard Road, Glenorchy. Communication
The College uses an online tool to send newsletters and to communicate excursion and College information to parents/carers.
Correspondence will be sent to the email you have provided to the College. This is a key way for the College to transmit information effectively and efficiently.

Mount Carmel College uses a smartphone payment app called Qkr! by Mastercard. for lunch orders, uniform shop purchases and other incidental purchases throughout the year.
